II Kings 4:14

II Kings 4:14 And (Elisha) said, What then is to be done for (this Shunamite woman)? And Gehazi answered, Verily she hath no child, and her husband is old. Elisha and his servant, Gehazi were blessed by the generosity of the Shunamite woman. Elisha wanted to repay her kindness, so he asked Gehazi for some ideas. Elisha prayed to God to do a miracle, and God answered Elisha’s prayer! The Shunemite woman and her husband had a little baby boy! They were so happy for several years until tragedy struck. The little boy was out with his father in the fields when he developed a splitting headache. The father had a worker carry the boy home. The boy passed out in his mother’s arms, and before anything could be done, he died. The Shunemite woman knew exactly what had to be done. She carried her son up to Elisha’s room, laid him on Elisha’s bed, and shut the door behind her. With great faith, she saddled up a donkey and went to find Elisha. At Mt. Carmel, she fell down at Elisha’s feet and begged him for help. And he did! Elisha rushed to the little boy’s side and prayed to the God in heaven to restore life to the little body. And God answered Elisha’s prayer. The boy sat up and Elisha returned him to his joyful mother. What a blessing for the grieving mother! What a powerful prayer from Elisha! What a wonderful God Who cares for His own!
