I have some issues with my right shoulder (rotator cuff). And my joints are getting stiffer with age (arthritis). So, this morning the hot shower felt really good. But as I was shampooing my hair, I noticed a little quirk that I had not noticed before: while I was scrubbing my scalp with my fingers, I was unconsciously moving my head back and forth in the opposite direction, effectively helping my fingers. My fingers didn’t have to work quite as hard because my head was picking up some of the work. Hey, that’s what the body of Christ should be doing. As some folk age, the younger set should be helping them out. And when young mothers are overwhelmed with their children, the grandmas at church should help with babysitting. Experienced men should help the younger men learn how to change the brake shoes on their car. Titus 2:1-6 admonishes the older folk to teach the younger folk. Verse 7 sums it up: “In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works …” Hey, let’s help one another like my head is helping my struggling fingers. Be a blessing and receive a blessing … both with grateful hearts.
