I was in Lowe’s to get a back-up tape (a second measuring tape, not a singing track) and found this little “gem”. I am disappointed at the dumbing down of our carpenters. The only saving grace of SAE measurements over metric is the fact that the carpenter must think a bit more when using SAE. But this tape is like a carpenter cheat sheet used by a lazy middle-schooler who doesn’t understand fractions. Do I sound like I am on a rant? Well, this former 7th grade teacher IS ON A RANT. Oh, to be back in the classroom teaching the fellow who needed to buy this tape!. I can fix ignorance, but I can’t fix dumb. Proverbs 22:28, “Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set.” might apply to old-school math as well. Hey, don’t mess with the past.
