Thank You Cards

Obviously, I enjoy writing.  But I also like to receive writing … in the form of letters.  And one of my favorite genres to receive are thank you notes.  Thank you cards express gratitude, and they always come from folk who have grateful hearts.  When my children were little, my wife would sit them down at the dining room table and have them write thank you cards for gifts received at Christmas and birthdays.  She was teaching gratitude because manners must be taught.  Children are not naturally grateful and respectful.  Gratefulness, thankfulness, and manners must be modeled and taught.  And I am grateful for a nurturing wife who patiently taught our children, who are teaching their children too!  I Thessalonians 5:18, “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”  We should be grateful to the dear Lord for good gifts that He sends as well as teaching times (camouflaged and bad times) that He sends.  And we should be grateful for good friends, good families, and good kindness.  Hey, send a thank you card to someone today.  You’ll brighten their day … and your day too.  Send an e-mail if you must, but thank you cards that you can hold in your hand are precious.  And I should know, because here are three precious ones that I received.
