Proverbs 29:27

Proverbs 29:27 An unjust man is an abomination to the just: and he that is upright in the way is abomination to the wicked. Okay, today is a language lesson. I know, I know, you thought school was over for today. But just one more little lesson. Do you know what a conjunction is? A conjunction connects. A conjunction is like a bridge between the two sides of a river. The bridge connects and a conjunction connects. But conjunctions connect in different ways. And used in our verse for today is a joining word. But the word but shows a difference when it join parts together. Or shows a choice. You can have one or the other, but not both. If you want both, which conjunction would you use? And. So back to our verse for today. The first half says that an unjust man is disgusting to a just man. Disgusting is what abomination means.  And the upright person is disgusting to the wicked man. So and tells us that both parts of our verse are true at the same time. Out verse says that the good person is disgusted with the bad person and at the same time, the bad person is disgusted with the good person. But why are both disgusted with the other? In his heart, the good person wants to be good and deep down in his heart, the wicked person wants to be wicked. They do not understand each other nor do they want to be like the other person. They are totally opposite. They are different. If you have a changed heart, God helps you to want to be good. If you are not God's child, you sin in every thing that you do. You may try to be good, but deep down in your heart, you can't be good. Jesus Christ has to change your heart. You must be born spiritually into God's family. So, just like our verse says, the choice is yours: Love God; hate evil. OR love evil; hate God.
