Hosea 7:8,11

Hosea 7:8,11 Ephraim, he hath mixed himself among the people; Ephraim is a cake not turned. Ephraim also is like a silly dove without heart: they call to Egypt, they go to Assyria. God uses some interesting word pictures here in our verses. The tribe of Ephraim was rebellious and is compared to a cake half-baked. It looks good on one side, but hasn’t been turned over to bake the other side, so it is not fit to eat. And Ephraim is compared to a silly dove without a heart. Ephraim refused to rely on the God of Israel. When Ephraim got into trouble, they called to Egypt and Assyria for help. But Egypt and Assyria would not always be available. But God is always available. When Ephraim was in trouble, they should have called upon the Lord. They should have repented and turned from their sins. Hey, that’s exactly what we should do! Call on the Lord.
