Friday, I was a door-buster at Great Clips to get my haircut. When I pulled up at 8 am, I saw a line of people in camp chairs on the sidewalk nearby. I was curious. I got out of my car, and being the nosy person that I am, I called out to the folk who appeared to be at the end of the line and said, “Hey, what’s going on?! Why are you in line?” A thirty-year-old man at the end of the line looked at me a little embarrassed and said, “There’s a new Pokémon game coming out, and we’re in line at GameStop to get the first release.” He was waiting in line for a kids’ game! I know, I know … he was a collector and stood to make a profit on his purchase, but still, it was a kids’ game. I was reminded of I Corinthians 13:11&12, “When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.” As the world becomes increasingly evil, we as Christians should become increasingly serious. We need to be serious about our commitment to the Lord, and serious about our love for others. We should love the brothers and sisters in Christ, and we should love sinners. Hey, don’t play around; don’t be like little kids; get serious as the end of time draws near, and make Jesus proud!
