John 3:16 For God
so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever
believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Of all of
the verses in the Bible, our verse for today is probably the most familiar and
best loved of them all! This verse includes all of the elements that explain how
much God loved us and what we must do to go to heaven. First we see that God did love us. Next we see the extent of
God’s love. He loved us so much that He gave us His only Son, Jesus to die for our sins. Our verse
goes on to say that salvation is available to everyone who believes on Jesus, God’s
only Son. The end of our verse shows the importance of our choice. If we do not
choose for God, we will perish. We will be separated from God forever and
forever in the Lake of Fire prepared for Satan and his followers. But if we
choose to believe in Jesus Christ, we will receive the gift of eternal life.
What a difference between the two choices!
