John 3:19

John 3:19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. My wife hated cockroaches and spiders and mice. So do I. But she really hates them! Anytime I hear my wife say, “Gerald, come quickly!” I absolutely run to kill whatever is there. When all the lights are off, that is when those evil little pests come out and scurry around the kitchen. They feel safe in the dark. They think that no one can see them. But the instant that my wife turns on the lights, the little creatures run to hide. They do not like the light, because the light exposes them and reveals that they are there. Thieves and robbers are the same way. They sneak about in the dead of night when honest people are asleep and try to break into houses. That is what our verse explains. The world is in spiritual darkness and filled with wickedness. Jesus, the light of the world, exposes their sin and they hide. They don’t like to be shown to be sinners. But if we are honest, when we are exposed as sinners by Jesus’ light, we repent and become the children of light. We become clean and we like the light! Let’s move towards the light, not the darkness!
