Acts 10:30-32

Acts 10:30-32 And Cornelius said, Four days ago I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and, behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing, And said, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thine alms are had in remembrance in the sight of God. Send therefore to Joppa, and call hither Simon, whose surname is Peter; he is lodged in the house of one Simon a tanner by the sea side: who, when he cometh, shall speak unto thee. Cornelius was a Roman centurion. A centurion was a captain over 100 soldiers. Cornelius was a good man who cared about the Israelites over whom he ruled. Most Roman soldiers looked down their noses at the Jews because they had defeated them in battle, and they were their masters. But Cornelius was different. He fasted before God; he gave money to the poor; and he prayed to God. But he was not a Christian . . . yet. God heard his prayers and sent an angel to tell Cornelius what to do. He was to send to Joppa for Peter who was staying with Simon, the tanner. All the while, God was speaking to Peter as well. When Cornelius' men came to Joppa, Peter was ready to go with them to Caesarea, When they arrived in Caeserea, Cornelius had his entire household assembled, ready to hear from Peter about God’s salvation. They heard, they believed, and they were all baptized! These were the first gentile converts to Jesus Christ. Peter was amazed. I am glad that Peter preached to these gentiles because I am a gentile. I am glad that the gospel of salvation is not just for the Jews, but it is also for us, the gentiles! Thank you, Jesus, for my salvation!
