Acts 12:6-8

Acts 12:6-8 And when Herod would have brought him forth, the same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains: and the keepers before the door kept the prison. And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands. And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me. King Herod had Peter cast into prison planning to kill him the next day. But God had other plans for Peter. The jailor of the prison made Peter secure - he was chained to a guard on each hand. They thought Peter could never escape. But the jailor didn’t know God’s plans for Peter either. And Peter didn’t seem worried. He was sleeping soundly! If I were in prison expecting to be executed the next day, I certainly wouldn’t be sleeping. But Peter was. He was trusting God. Her even had his sandals off so he could be more comfortable! God sent His angel to rescue Peter. The angel had to poke Peter to wake him up. Peter thought he was dreaming so the angel had to tell him every move. The angel said, “Put on your sandals and coat and follow me.” And Peter did. They went through the first and second ward leaving the guards and jailor sleeping! They came to the outside gate and it opened all by itself. The angel left peter standing there on the outside of the prison. Can you imagine what that angel thought? Can you imagine what Peter thought? He probably had to pinch himself to see if he was really awake! God took care of His preacher. And God will take care of you!
