Acts 11:1,2,17,18

Acts 11:1,2,17,18 And the apostles and brethren that were in Judaea heard that the Gentiles had also received the word of God. And when Peter was come up to Jerusalem, they that were of the circumcision contended with him, Forasmuch then as God gave them the like gift as he did unto us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; what was I, that I could withstand God? When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life. When Peter got back to Jerusalem he was in trouble with the Jewish church in Jerusalem. They all thought that God gave salvation only to the nation of Israel. But Peter had stayed with Cornelius, a gentile; He had eaten with Cornelius’ family. Jews weren’t supposed to associate with gentiles.  But when Peter explained what had happened - how that the Holy Spirit had come upon Cornelius and his gentile family – the Jewish Christians couldn’t say anything against Cornelius’ conversion. God had given salvation to the gentiles as well! And that is exciting to me because I am a gentile! Anyone who is not a Jew is a gentile. Are you a gentile? Congratulations! You can be saved too!
