Acts 9:22-35

Acts 9:22-25 But Saul increased the more in strength, and confounded the Jews which dwelt at Damascus, proving that this is very Christ. And after that many days were fulfilled, the Jews took counsel to kill him: But their laying await was known of Saul. And they watched the gates day and night to kill him. Then the disciples took him by night, and let him down by the wall in a basket. When people can’t overcome what you say with their words, they will often resort to violence. And actually, when someone is violent that is because they have a weak argument. Saul was increasing more and more for Jesus and the Jews in Damascus couldn’t resist his preaching. So they went about to kill him. They watched the gates of the city to catch Saul. But Saul’s new Christian friends took good care of him. They got a big market basket and a strong rope and lowered Saul down the outside of the city wall in that basket. I am sure that they didn’t realize what a wonderful thing they were doing. Saul – Paul – went on to preach many, many sermons; led hundreds of people to faith in Jesus Christ; and wrote thirteen books of the New Testament! None of this would have been possible without Saul escaping the trap in Damascus! We never know what someone is going to accomplish for God. We just have to help everyone that we can and trust that God will do His will!
