Acts 12:11,12

Acts 12:11,12 And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews. And when he had considered the thing, he came to the house of Mary the mother of John, whose surname was Mark; where many were gathered together praying. When Peter was standing there outside of the prison, it finally dawned upon him that he was free! And then when he thought about it, he knew that all of his friends would be gathered at Mary’s house praying for him. So that is where he went – straight to the prayer meeting. But when he got there the door was locked. Why do you think the door was locked? The believers might have been expecting some more arrests. But when a little girl named Rhoda answered Peter’s knock, she ran back to tell everyone and forgot to let Peter in! But no one believed her. They thought she had seen – or heard Peter’s ghost! So all the while Peter kept knocking at the door. When the Christians finally opened the door, they laughed and cried and carried on and on! It took Peter some time to calm them down so that he could explain what had happened. And in the morning, some other people had some explaining to do as well. Who do you think it was? But the guards and the jailor couldn’t explain anything. They didn’t know what had happened - they were asleep! King Herod had them interrogated, but they knew nothing. So King Herod left for Caesarea disgusted with them all. And then word came that Peter was in the Temple preaching again. Were they ever surprised! That day they left him alone. And I think that I know why, don’t you?
