I Peter 1:4

I Peter 1:4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, Yesterday, Peter told us that we were born into God’s forever family by the resurrection of Jesus Christ. And because we are born into God’s family, we are born into the inheritance of God. What is an inheritance? If you inherit a lot of money from your aunt, what has to happen in order for you to get that money? Your aunt has to die. That explains our verse. When Jesus died, we received our inheritance from Him. We received our eternal life! And that inheritance is permanent – it is in heaven and safely waiting for us! In Matthew it says that our inheritance is not going to rust away like a car that gets rustier as time goes on. Thieves cannot break in and steal our heavenly inheritance. Moths and termites may eat up sweaters hanging in the back of the closet or the wood in our houses, but they can’t touch our eternal inheritance. Our inheritance bought by Jesus’ death is safe in heaven!  Peter finishes by saying that it is reserved for us! It is there just waiting for us to receive it when we pass into God’s presence. What a glorious day that will be!
