III John 1:1,9,12

Demetrius

Tonight I am switching things up a bit. I am going to say some things and then you can read three verses. In Third John there are three people mentioned. When you read these verses, see what the Apostle John says about each of these persons.
III John 1:1 The elder unto the wellbeloved Gaius, whom I love in the truth.
III John 1:9 I wrote unto the church: but Diotrephes, who loveth to have the preeminence among them, receiveth us not.
III John 1:12 Demetrius hath good report of all men, and of the truth itself: yea, and we also bear record; and ye know that our record is true.
What did John say about Gaius in verse one? He said that Gaius was well beloved. John was really close to Gaius, wasn’t he? What did John say about Diotrephes? He was proud and liked to be first and up in front of people. He liked other people to think that he was important. And last, what did John say about Demetrius? Demetrius had a good report. John said that everyone liked him. He didn’t show favorites; he was friendly to everyone. Are you like Diotrephes and are snooty? Or are you like Gaius and are well beloved? Are you like Demetrius and have a good reputation with everyone? Work of your reputation every day. Work of being liked and being liked by everyone.
