Matthew 26:26-28

Matthew 26:26-28 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. The Passover celebration was one of the seven feasts that the Jews were to observe. And Jesus observed the Passover ceremony in a rented upper room with His twelve disciples. But this Passover would be known as the Last Supper, because Jesus would soon be executed. And Jesus knew what was soon to take place. So He gave his disciples bread and wine to commemorate His death. The bread represented His broken body, and the wine, or grape juice, represented His blood. Jesus knew what would happen the very next day, but His disciples did not. But After Jesus had died, the disciples remembered. They remembered Jesus’ last words and that Last Supper. And they carefully celebrated, not the Passover supper, but the Lord’s Supper. And we still do. And we still remember our dear Savior’s death.
