Habakkuk 2:19,20

Habakkuk 2:19,20 Woe unto him that saith to the wood, Awake; to the dumb stone, Arise, it shall teach! Behold, it is laid over with gold and silver, and there is no breath at all in the midst of it. But the LORD is in his holy temple: let all the earth keep silence before him. Idols are such a dumb idea. Just think about them. Someone makes a wooden idol with their hands, and then they begin to pray to the object that they just made themselves! It doesn’t make sense. But as modern-day people, we are often the same as an Old Testament idol worshiper. We spend our time and money on fancy homes, fancy clothes, expensive jewelry, and cars. We spend hours and hours of our time on video games, hobbies, television, and movies. We seem to worship these activities and put them above worshiping God. But we should respect our Lord above and put Him first in our lives. Oh, we can spend fun times with family and friends, but who do we love most? Or what do we love best? A modern-day idol? I hope not. I hope we love God and spend time with Him. After all, He loves us!
