Four Little Words

Try this: “What would happen if …” and plug in anything that you like.  For example, what would happen if we read our Bibles every day?  What would happen if we really loved our brothers and sisters in Christ?  What would happen if we shared a gospel tract each day with someone?  What would happen if we tithed every week of our earnings?  Would our church change?  Would our nation change?  Hey, tithers only make up 5% of the church with 80% of the members giving only 2% of their income.  Christians give, on the average, 2.5% of their income.  During the Great Depression it was 3.5%.  The average giving by adults who attend protestant churches is $17.  37% of adults who attend protestant churches give nothing.  Malachi 3:10, “Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.”  The tithe does not mean the tenth, it means the first tenth.  We should give to God upon the first day of the week by faith and trust God to take care of us the rest of the week.  Hey, “what would happen if …”
