John 14:15-18,26

John 14:15-18,26 If ye love me, keep my commandments. And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. Jesus was God’s only begotten Son and He knew that He was just about to die. He was telling His disciples – and us – that He was leaving this old world. But Jesus was not leaving us alone. When He left, He would send the Comforter – the Blessed Holy Spirit. Jesus was living in Israel. That meant that He was not in Syria or Lebanon or Egypt or Rome. Jesus could only be one place at a time. But the Holy Spirit – well that is different. He can be everywhere at once! He can be in Israel and Cameroon and Romania and Ringgold and Springfield and Chattanooga and... well you get the picture. But Jesus had to leave in order to send the Holy Spirit. If we trust in Jesus as our Savior, the Father sends the Holy Spirit to indwell us. God is in us! And we are never alone! Just like the Father was with Jesus when He was here on earth, The Holy Spirit is with us as we live our lives. What a blessed promise!
