John 18:7,10

John 18:7,10 ... Whom seek ye? And they said, Jesus of Nazareth. Then Simon Peter having a sword drew it, and smote the high priest's servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant's name was Malchus. When Jesus finished praying in the Garden of Gethsemane, He turned around to leave and Judas was there with a mob to arrest Him. Jesus asked them right up front who they were looking for. When He openly told them that He was Jesus, they were taken aback. Usually criminals try to hide or escape, but not Jesus. He knew that He was going to the cross, and He was ready to die for our sins. But good ‘ole Peter was going to protect Jesus. He had a sword stashed in the folds of his robe. He swung it at the nearest enemy.  Malchus could barely avoid getting his head slashed off as he dodged Peter’s clumsy blow. Peter only cut off his ear. Luke tells us that Jesus picked up the ear and put it back in place healing Malchus. Even as He was arrested, Jesus was kind and helpful. We need to be kind to our enemies. Jesus was.
