Genesis 12:6-8

Genesis 12:6-8 And Abram passed through the land unto the place of Sichem, unto the plain of Moreh. And the Canaanite was then in the land. And the LORD appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he an altar unto the LORD, who appeared unto him. And he removed from thence unto a mountain on the east of Bethel, and pitched his tent, having Bethel on the west, and Hai on the east: and there he builded an altar unto the LORD, and called upon the name of the LORD. Our verses trace the movement of Abraham as he was passing through the land of Canaan going th where the Lord was leading him. He didn’t know exactly where he was going because he was following God. But when Abraham got to Bethel, he knew that was where God was leading. Often we do not know exactly what God wants for us, but we can sense that God is pleased when we do the right thing. And Abraham knew that God was pleased when he got to Bethel. So he built an altar to the Lord and called upon God’s name. We need to call upon the name of the Lord too. We need fellowship with God, just like Abraham. God led Abraham and God will lead you too!
