Ezekiel 18:4

Ezekiel 18:4 Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die. Sometimes in the Old Testament God says that He will punish sin to the third and fourth generation. But this verse contradicts that. So which is right? Well actually, both are right. In our verse for today, God reminds us of personal responsibility. We must pay for our own sins. But often we learn bad habits from our parents. And our children learn bad habits from us. Often many generations are affected because of the bad examples that are passed down for many generations. This is how sin can affect several generations. But through God’s grace, these chains of sin can be broken! We can train and teach our children new habits and we can take advantage of God’s wonderful forgiveness through salvation! God can make a difference in our lives and the lives of our children! Praise the Lord!
