Numbers 5:6,7

Numbers 5:6,7 Speak unto the children of Israel, When a man or woman shall commit any sin … then they shall confess their sin which they have done: and he shall recompense his trespass with the principal thereof, and add unto it the fifth part thereof, and give it unto him against whom he hath trespassed. This is a Bible principal: restitution. God told the Children of Israel that when anyone sinned against another, they were to repay their sin. If someone stole something and the theft was discovered, they had to restore whatever they stole … and they had to add a fifth to the restoration. For example: If I stole five eggs from your chicken house and my stealing was found out, I had to give the five eggs back and one extra egg of mine because of my sin of stealing. This makes stealing a losing plan. God knows how to make people work together and God knows how to keep us honest. God and His Words are good.
