Finding Your "Middle Way"

There are many expressions that we use without actually knowing the origin of the expression.  For example, all of us know what a “catch 22” is.  It is a situation with no solution because there are contradictory limitations or rules.  The author, Joseph Heller wrote a book in 1961 about a pilot who was caught in the middle of military bureaucracy - a catch 22 situation.  So, today I am speaking to another expression that I have heard.  I have heard people say that they just need to “find their middle way.”  This sounds appealing in a world that has lost its way.  But looking deep inside your soul really isn’t the way to find inner peace.  The expression “middle way” refers to the Buddhist understanding of practical life, avoiding the extremes of self-denial and self-indulgence.  Finding “the middle way.”  Inner peace will never come from inside of us; inner peace can only come from knowing the Prince of Peace: Jesus Christ.  Jesus said in John 14:27, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”  Real peace can only be found by putting your faith in Jesus Christ.  Hey, real peace doesn’t come from finding peace in your middle way; real peace comes from the outside.  Real peace comes from knowing Jesus Christ, whom to know is life everlasting.
