Good Friday in Two Weeks

Today, in two weeks, it will be Good Friday.  Does that surprise you?  It does me.  It seems like Good Friday and Easter Sunday sneaked up on us.  If it were two weeks before Christmas, everyone would know it.  Everyone would be frantic, grabbing up last minute Christmas presents getting ready for the big day.  That’s because Christmas has been commercialized, while Easter is more of a Christian celebration.  Oh, don’t get me wrong, the Incarnation and Virgin Birth of Jesus Christ is important, but the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ is central to our salvation.  Hey, why is someone’s death called “Good Friday”?  It surely wasn’t “good” for Jesus with His brutal, humiliating execution.  But because of His execution and resurrection, we have been given redemption and the gift of eternal life!  And for us, who are redeemed sinners, it is a “Good Friday”!  Hey, celebrate Easter!  Don’t let the stores push bunnies and eggs and new clothes.  Revel in the goodness of God.  Enjoy the gift of life eternal bought by Jesus at a tremendous price.  He loves you.  Bask in His love and prepare your heart for Easter Sunday!
