Stone Wall

During his high school years, my younger brother worked for a contractor laying stone sidewalks.  He started mixing the mortar and eventually worked his way up as a stonemason.  He moved to Shady Valley, Tennessee and worked for himself.  On a particular house, the homeowner was rather whimsical.  He found stones that looked like a bowtie, a sunburst, a pie, the sole of a boot, and the states of Florida and Tennessee!  He had my brother work them into the wall at particular places.  My brother laid out stones all around the yard as he worked looking for stones that would fit into the growing wall.  The apostle Peter likens us as Christians to a wall in God’s spiritual building.  I Peter 2:5, “Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.”  Hey, we are building stones in God’s house, but we are living building stones!  And Jesus Christ fits us into His spiritual building just perfectly where He wants us to be.  The stones in my brother’s wall didn’t complain where he put them; they just held up the part of the wall where they were put.  Hey, don’t complain where the good Lord has put you.  Just work for God where you find yourself.  Always remember, God has put you exactly where He wants you to be, and exactly where you will do best … for Him!  Trust in God, the wise Master builder.  He knows what is best!
