Most of the Time

Just pretend you are on an airplane getting ready to take off.  The pilot comes over the intercom and says, “We are getting ready to take off, and I just wanted to inform you that my goal is to fly this airplane so that we will never crash … most of the time.”  Would you stay on that airplane, or get off?  I’m sure that you would get off with ALL of the other passengers!  But why is it that we are satisfied with living a clean Christian life … most of the time?  We only sin just a little … not too much.  Peter quoted the Lord as saying in I Peter 1:16, “… Be ye holy; for I am holy.”  We should be as holy as the Lord is holy.  That’s a pretty tall order!  The problem is, we can’t.  It is only through the power of Jesus Christ that we can even begin to live a holy Christian life.  James said in James 4:8, “Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.”  So, in our own strength, we are hopeless.  But in the strength of Jesus Christ, we can live a victorious Christian life.  Hey, trust the Lord to help you to be a strong Christian today.  Ask Him and He will do it!  Yes, He will!
