If someone asks you, “Are you married?” and it takes you more than a split-second to answer, your marriage is in trouble. So, if someone asks you, “Are you a Christian?” and it takes you more than a split second to answer, you need to realize that you are not a Christian. If you struggle to answer, if you must think about what to answer, if you cast about in your mind how to answer; the answer is already clear: you aren’t a Christian. The old apostle John said clearly in I John 5:11-13, “And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may KNOW (emphasis mine) that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.” Did you notice the certainty in these verses?
