Hebrews 12:29

Hebrews 12:29 For our God is a consuming fire. Some traits of God seem to be contradictory. How can God be a judge and send people to hell if He is a loving God too? That is because we don’t understand how holy God is. God can’t stand any evil. He must punish sin. But God loved us humans so much that He sent His only Son, Jesus to die for us and to pay for our sin. We might just let something slide – we will just let it go without making a big deal of it. But God is not like we are. God is holy and cannot just let something go. Each and every sin must be judged. So when we see God’s judgement, we may think that God us harsh. But we forget that God has made a way for our sin to be paid for. He must judge sin because of His holiness, but He has paid for our sin because of His love. But when we pass into eternity without trusting in God’s payment for our sins, we will face God as a judge and He will be as a consuming fire. I am looking for God’s forgiveness and not for His judgement. How about you?
