Dressed

Thirty years ago, I told my teen-age son to “dress up” for the evening.  He came downstairs with jeans, a white tee shirt, and a black vest.  “Dressed up” to me meant something different than “dressed up” to him.  Would you go to a funeral in shorts and a tank top?  Hopefully not.  But would you go to a picnic in a suit?  Probably not.  What you wear may be a matter of taste, but it could be a matter of life or death.  When you wake up in the morning, make sure you put on the armor of God because later that day, you will be facing your mortal enemy, Satan.  Make no mistake, Satan is real, and he is out to defeat you.  He will chew you up and spit you out.  And he doesn’t play fair.  Satan lies and deceives.  Paul told us what the different pieces of our armor are in Ephesians 6.  In verses 12 and 13 he said, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”  Hey, be prepared.  Get ready to defend yourself … in the power and might of Almighty God.  God’s armor will protect you.  Don’t be afraid.  And after all of your preparations, stand firm.  Just do it!
