Be a Servant

Some Bible scholars say that Jesus was crucified on Thursday of Holy Week.  I tend to think that Jesus was crucified on Good Friday … a dreadful day for Him, but good for us sinners.  I heard a Jewish Christian last week say that any part of the day, to the Jewish mind, is considered the day.  So, Jesus could have been crucified and put into the grave before sunset on Good Friday (day one).  He was in the grave Saturday and resurrected on Easter Sunday morning (the third day).  So, This evening (Thursday) commemorates the Last Supper and the communion service with the disciples.  And at the end, Jesus did something unusual: He washed the feet of the disciples.  This was customarily done by the lowest slave (dulos) in the home.  John 13:12-14, “So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, and was set down again, he said unto them, Know ye what I have done to you? Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet.”  Hey, Jesus wants us to love one another and to serve one another.  And by His example, He showed us the way.  So today, follow Jesus’ example and be a blessing to someone.  Go out of your way to be a servant to someone.  You’ll be glad that you did.  And the good Lord will look down and smile.  Wouldn’t that be great?!
