Easy Times and Bad Times

Christians don’t fall asleep in a fire.  Christians don’t fall asleep in deep waters. But Christians do fall asleep in the sunshine.  When the good Lord gives us blessings, we should be grateful, because God is being gracious to us.  But we aren’t grateful; we take God’s goodness for granted.  But if we neglect Him in the good times, God must send difficult times to bring us back to Himself.  God’s chosen people neglected the Lord in Psalm 6:12-15, “Then believed they his words; they sang his praise.  They soon forgat his works; they waited not for his counsel:  But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, and tempted God in the desert.  And he gave them their request; but sent leanness into their soul.”  All too often, the Lord gives us what we want, but we soon find out that what we want is not what we want.  Like a dog going round and round chasing his own tail.  We don’t need more stuff or more happiness, but we do need the Lord.
