John 7:37,38

John 7:37,38 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. All of the Jews had to go to Jerusalem to offer their sacrifices. They could study the Scriptures in their hometown in gathering places called synagogues, but they could only offer sacrifices for their sins at Jerusalem. The Temple was a beautiful sight to behold! It was made of white marble and set high on a hill overlooking Jerusalem. When the sun reflected off of the Temple it seemed to blaze with dazzling light. On the last day of the Feast of Lights, the high priest stood on the precipice of the Temple roof and ceremonially poured out a pitcher of water. Just as he did this, Jesus spoke the words of our verses for today. Jesus is called the light of the world and the bread of life, but here He calls Himself Living Water. If we will but believe in Jesus as our Savior, He will speak to others through us, just like the pitcher poured out the water for all to use. Jesus wants to provide living water to everyone – and He provides it through us, His followers.
