Mark 1:23-28

Mark 1:23-28 And there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; and he cried out, Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God. And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. And when the unclean spirit had torn him, and cried with a loud voice, he came out of him. And they were all amazed, insomuch that they questioned among themselves, saying, What thing is this? what new doctrine is this? for with authority commandeth he even the unclean spirits, and they do obey him. And immediately his fame spread abroad throughout all the region round about Galilee. The spiritual world is real! And Jesus knew it. So when He came into the synagogue, the demons who were controlling this poor man recognized Jesus and were respectful to Him. They spoke up and worshiped Jesus. But these were demons, who had rejected God’s authority from the beginning of time, and Jesus wasn’t going to put up with anything from them. He rebuked them and told them to zip it! Jesus told them to come out of this poor man and to beat it! And they did. And when they did, the man was left behaving normal. And when all of that, everyone was amazed. They were shocked that Jesus had such power. And they were shocked that even the demons respected Him! But we shouldn’t be shocked. We should expect demons to obey Jesus. After all, He was the very Son of God!
