Mark 8:36,37

Mark 8:36,37 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? Our two verses for today are related to the two from yesterday. And both of them compare the spiritual world with the physical world. Both are important, but there is a priority. Jesus says in Matthew 6:33 that we must seek first the kingdom of God, and then the physical things will be added to the spiritual. Jesus says that we must put the spiritual first, and the physical will come right behind it. After all, how much money would you give for your soul? It is priceless! Suppose I were to offer you a million dollars in exchange for your life? Would you take my offer? Not if you are smart. If I gave you a million dollars and took your life, how would you spend your million dollars? You couldn’t! You would be dead! You couldn’t spend anything! A million dollars is great, but not as great as life itself. And Jesus says to put Life and the Kingdom of God first. And then everything else will fall into order. Put Jesus first, and everything will be in the right order!
