Mark 5:14-17

Mark 5:14-17 ... And they went out to see what it was that was done. And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid. And they that saw it told them how it befell to him that was possessed with the devil, and also concerning the swine. And they began to pray him to depart out of their coasts. When something exciting happens, most people get excited too. And the people of Gadara saw the great miracle that was done in the life of the poor crazy man who lived in their community. But they were probably more concerned about the loss of their herd of hogs than they were with the delivered demon-possessed maniac. I know this by their reaction. They didn’t thank Jesus for healing their neighbor man. They didn’t even thank Jesus for making their village a safer place now that the demons were gone. They begged Jesus to leave their village! I think that they were missing the money from their pigs, and they were more concerned with their financial loss than the great spiritual miracle in the man’s life. it is interesting that Jesus didn’t rebuke them; Jesus just left. He left them all to their greed. But even though Jesus left them, He left them with a testimony. Do you remember from yesterday what testimony that Jesus left the people of Gadara? He left them the evangelist of the former demon-possessed man. And I just know that this converted man began to preach the Gospel of Jesus to everyone that he met! I just know that he was a great testimony to anyone who would stand still long enough for him to speak to them. So, how about you? Are you a testimony for Jesus Christ? Has Jesus done great things in your life? Well then tell someone about it! Or just give them a tract. Or invite them to church. Just do something.
