Mark 4:30-32

Mark 4:30-32 And he said, Whereunto shall we liken the kingdom of God? or with what comparison shall we compare it? It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, is less than all the seeds that be in the earth: But when it is sown, it groweth up, and becometh greater than all herbs, and shooteth out great branches; so that the fowls of the air may lodge under the shadow of it. The mustard plant is not all that big. But it is everywhere. It grows in fields even where it isn’t planted. So from one seed, a mustard plant grows. And from the hundreds of seeds that that one plant produces, hundreds of more mustard plants grow. And then they in turn each produce hundreds of seeds which amount to hundreds of thousands of seeds in just two generations. Amazing! And the kingdom of God is exactly like that. God can take one little act of faith and multiply it into great things! Years ago, someone gave Pastor Garten a subscription to The Sword of the Lord. He enjoyed it and began to preach better and more fervently at his tiny church, the Shady Springs Community Church. My mother and father were saved as a result of Pastor Garten’s preaching and I grew up in a Christian home. I was saved early because I was taken to church by my parents. I went to a Christian college and have gone on more than fifty mission trips to fifteen countries. I have spoken to thousands of students and hudreds of children in Vacation Bible Schools. All of this is because someone gave a subscription to a pastor in West Virginia. Was that a little act? Yes. Did it have tremendous results for God’s Kingdom? A great big YES! Why even you are reading these devotions today because of that little subscription! The exciting thing is you never know what God will do with something little! Just one little grain of mustard seed can multiply into tremendous results! And so can your little act of faith! Trust God! Love Him and serve Him! By the way, Happy Birthday, Becky!
