James 3:10-12

James 3:10-12 Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be. Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter? Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh. Have you ever had a friend who turned on you? You thought that they were your friend, but they talked about you behind your back. You discovered that they weren’t really your friend. That kind of a person is what James is talking about in our verses for today. And James gives some good examples: can a fountain have sweet water and salt water at the same time? Can an apple tree have peaches on it? Can a grape vine have watermelons on it? The answer to all of these is no. So look for friends who will be truthful to you and not talk about you behind your back. Hey, are you truthful to others, not talking about them behind their backs? Good thought.
