Judges 2:18,19

Judges 2:18,19 And when the LORD raised them up judges, then the LORD was with the judge, and delivered them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge: for it repented the LORD because of their groanings by reason of them that oppressed them and vexed them. And it came to pass, when the judge was dead, that they returned, and corrupted themselves more than their fathers, in following other gods to serve them, and to bow down unto them; they ceased not from their own doings, nor from their stubborn way. Just after Captain Joshua, Israel was ruled over by judges. A judge decided between two arguing people. God wanted to be Israel’s king, and the judge was God’s representative. But because Israel had not driven out all of the Canaanites, there were constant temptations to do evil. So Israel would slide into idol worship and God would punish them. Then they would repent and God would send them a deliver, a new judge. But after a few years, the people would go back into sin and rebel against the judge and against God. And the cycle would be repeated. Hey, that happens to us as well. God blesses us, but we get proud and think we are producing the good times ourselves. We forget God. We must remember that “every good gift; every perfect gift comes from above.” God is the source of everything good. Don’t forget.
