Believing Is Seeing

Dr. Donald Barnhouse told the story of an incident on a flight years ago.  The plane was awaiting take-off for a while when the pilot spoke over the intercom, “Or departure has been delayed for about fifty minutes.  If you would like, you may deplane and wait in the terminal where you might be a little more comfortable.”  So, everyone got up and moved to the boarding area.  Everyone but a blind lady.  Dr. Barnhouse knew that she was blind because her service dog was crammed under the seat between her feet.  And the lady must have been a frequent flyer because the pilot opened the cockpit door and said, “Kathy, would you like to stretch your legs?”  The lady answered, “No. I’m just fine.  But my dog might like to stretch his legs.”  To which the pilot replied, “I can take him for a walk.”  And he did.  Dr. Barnhouse went on to describe the scene that followed: The pilot came up the jetway to the boarding area wearing his dark aviator sunglasses and being led by a seeing eye dog.  Dr. Barnhouse said that no one got back onto the plane.  Do you blame them?  Sometimes in life, we can be mistaken.  We may think that what we see is true, but we can be mistaken.  We are told, “Seeing is believing.”  But in the spiritual world, “Believing is seeing.”  A nobleman came to Jesus begging for the Master to heal his sick son, who was at the point of death.  Jesus told the nobleman to go his way because his son had been healed.  John 4:50, “… And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way.”  The man believed and then he saw (a miracle).  Hey, have you trusted in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior?  Then act upon your faith and believe the Lord today.  Great things will follow!
