Teaching Well

Saturday night, I was preparing a Sunday school lesson on “5 Amazing Mothers in the Bible”.  And I thought, how intense Jochebed’s teaching must have been to her little son, Moses.  Jochebed knew that she would lose Moses to Pharaoh’s daughter when Moses turned 5 years old, and he would go to a pagan home in a pagan culture.  I’m sure that Jochebed did everything in her power to cram Scripture into Moses’ little head.  She would secretly wipe away her tears as she thought of losing her son, and then go right on to tell little Moses of the One True God in heaven who would always be there watching over him.  And then I thought, “Are we as fervent as we teach our children about God?  We won’t have our children forever.  Sweet little children grow up, go away to college, move away from home, and get married.  We only have them for a few short years, just a brief time to connect them to their heavenly Father, Who is always watching over them.  Hey, let’s do a good job.  Let’s teach our children and teach them well.  Proverbs 22:6, “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”
