“Spring” is a word with several meanings. Spring can be a certain season of the year. Spring can mean a coil of metal that cushions your car. Spring can be a place in the ground where fresh water pours out. Or spring can mean to jump into action. Paul advises several groups of people Colossians 3:18-22 to “jump into action”. Paul tells wives to eagerly submit to their husband’s leadership; he tells husbands to unselfishly love their wives; he tells children to quickly obey their parents; he tells fathers to be gentle in teaching their children; he tells employees to be quick to please their boss. And finally, Paul says in Colossians 3:23, “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men.” Hey, when you serve the Lord and when you serve others, don’t be reluctant, spring into action! Gladly serve! Or, as they say at a place that I patronize: “My pleasure!”
