Ready for Tragedy?

Thursday, I went up to see my oldest daughter and her husband (actually, I really went up to see my grandchildren, and my daughter was just the pretense).  Since I would be going through Chattanooga and Nashville during morning rush hour, I left really, really early.  Coming down on the Nashville side of Monteagle Mountain, I passed a pickup truck on the other side of the highway fully engulfed in an engine fire.  The driver was away from the truck expecting the gas tank to explode.  Two minutes later, a state police car flew by with lights on and siren blaring heading towards the blaze.  A fire truck was one minute behind him.  I was thankful that it wasn’t my vehicle burning.  And then I said a prayer for the pickup truck driver whose life was changing fast.  Hey, today, your life could change too.  You are steps away from a car tragedy like the one that I witnessed.  You are just a phone call away from a cancer diagnosis.  Your job could be downsized Monday morning.  My point is: are you ready when tragedy strikes?  Are you close to God? because tomorrow, you may need to have the good Lord on speed dial.  Matthew 6:33& 34, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.”
