Mark 13:1,2

Mark 13:1,2 And as he went out of the temple, one of his disciples saith unto him, Master, see what manner of stones and what buildings are here! And Jesus answering said unto him, Seest thou these great buildings? there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down. As Jesus and His disciples were walking about Jerusalem on Passover week, they went up to the Temple. Herod’s Temple, as it was known as, was a massive building set on a prominent hill right in the middle of Jerusalem. It was made of white marble stones weighing about 80 tons each! As the sun shone down on the white marble, the Temple must have been a beautiful sight! The disciples were impressed and commented to Jesus on the huge stones. But Jesus topped what they said! He remarked that someday, not one stone would be left upon another. And that prophecy came to pass just forty years later. The Roman general Titus marched into Jerusalem to put down a Jewish revolt. Before he knew it, his soldiers had torched the Temple and the centuries old wood and cloth and animal hides burned the whole place to the ground. All of the overlaid gold melted and ran down between the cracks of the stones. So to recover the gold, the Roman soldiers removed each and every stone right down to the foundation. The prophecy of Jesus came to pass! And the rest of the prophecies in Revelation will come to pass – just like Jesus said!
