Mark 14:3-5

Mark 14:3-5 And being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard very precious; and she brake the box, and poured it on his head. And there were some that had indignation within themselves, and said, Why was this waste of the ointment made? For it might have been sold for more than three hundred pence, and have been given to the poor. And they murmured against her. Have you noticed that some people always whine? They are never happy, no matter what happens. The Bible doesn’t say, but I think that one of the whiners here in our verses for today was Judas. Judas was the treasurer and the ones whining here were complaining that the perfume should have been sold and the money given to the poor. And to me, that sounds just about like Judas. But Jesus said that the poor will always be around. But Jesus would only be on earth for a brief time, and Mary Magdalene, the woman whose name is not mentioned here in Mark, did a wonderful thing. She loved Jesus because Jesus had forgiven her and had given her a new life! She was grateful and wanted to thank Jesus and she used a costly perfume to anoint Jesus. The fragrance filled the air and the room reminding everyone of how much this woman loved Jesus. By the way, do you love Jesus? Are you willing to be fussed at to show your love for Jesus? Are you willing to make a costly sacrifice to show your love for Jesus? I hope so.
