On Hold

Last week I had to call the office for my home mortgage and was on hold for a long time.  No, I mean a really loooong time.  Fortunately, I have a speaker phone button on my cell phone so that I can listen to the distorted “on hold” music while I am going about my business.  Finally, the mortgage officer answered, and I began to explain my problem.  I wanted to get off the speaker mode, but my phone had reverted to the black screen, so I clicked the button the side of my phone to activate my screen, and you guessed it:  I hung up on the person that I had been waiting for, for ten minutes!  Hey, did you feel like your life was “on hold” in 2020?  Were you on hold with quarantine this year?  Did you work from home separated from co-workers and staff?  Were you put on hold from window shopping or just hanging around at the mall?  It could be that you feel like you are on hold with the Lord.  Have you prayed for something and it seemed like your prayers weren’t heard?  Are you waiting to hear from God?  Well, take heart.  God may be silent, but He is busy working on your behalf.  God has plans for you, His dear child, and He is quietly working behind the scenes to make your life come together like a beautiful tapestry picture.  David said in Psalm 27:14, “Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.”  Don’t be frustrated.  Trust in the Lord to work in your life.  Whether you see it or not, you are not “on hold” with your heavenly Father.  He is at work for you.
