I have settled into a Tuesday night ritual: I take out the garbage bin because the garbage truck runs early Wednesday morning. Not quite as early as I run on Wednesday morning, but I don’t have the time to roll the rolling bin down the hill to the street at 5 am. And, the neighbors don’t like to hear me rolling that bin down the hill at 5 am either. So, I have been discarding some of Kathy’s old stuff starting deep in the closets. She has kept every purse that she ever had, and most of them are the old, monogramed cloth-padded style. She had a few nice name-brand purses, but they were well-worn and not yard-saleable (if that’s a word). Before I threw them away, I checked them in case she had left anything important in them. I found a few gift cards, but in two, I found tracts that she had kept just to hand out. Kathy and I tried to remind each other to give out gospel tracts when we could. Now I’ll have to remind myself. Often, at a sit-down restaurant, Kathy would say to the server, “We are getting ready to pray for our meal. Is there anything that you would like us to pray about?” And the waitress always had something on her mind to pray about. Hey, hand out gospel tracts. Be kind to people and be bold to speak up for the Lord. I pray that the Lord will say of us one day, when we meet Him face to face, Matthew 25:21, “… Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.” Kathy has already heard those words. I pray that you and I will hear those words someday too.
