Refreshing

My parents had a trailer, and we lived in Henry Freuling’s trailer park just off route 40 in Joppa, Maryland.  When I was ten years old, they bought some property and moved the trailer onto the lot.  But before they could, my dad had to dig a well and install a septic system.  The hand dug well was in the front yard and the septic tank and drain field was down the hill in the back yard.  Occasionally, during a dry summer, we ran out of water and had to bring water in.  There was a spring on the B&O railroad right-of-way that was available (unofficially) for anyone to use.  Dad would put two 55 gallon barrels into the trunk of his car and go to the spring.  There was usually someone else there because many folk were experiencing the drought.  When we first got there, dad would produce a small aluminum sauce pan and we would take a drink water from that cool spring.  The water was so refreshing!  Isaiah 58:11, “And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.”  How refreshing to read a verse from God’s holy Word!  It refreshes my spiritual soul just like s sip of cool spring water refreshes my physical body.  Hey, have you read a passage from the Bible this morning?  Why not turn off your phone or computer and refresh your soul in the Word of God.  You’ll be glad that you did.
