Recklessness

I go to cardiac rehab at 5:30 am, arriving when they open the doors at 6 am.  One reason that I go so early is that traffic is minimal at that early hour.  But last Monday, there were fools afoot.  A pick-up truck flew by me on the righthand side (very dangerous) and cut back over three lanes of traffic just to gain a car length in the fast lane on the interstate!  He risked damage to his nice vehicle, but more importantly, he risked a collision with other innocent drivers (mainly me).  Although he could have been taking his wife to the delivery room at the hospital, he was probably just late for work but still wanted a latte at the gas station.  Proverbs 12:15, “The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise.”  I’m sure that the pick-up driver thought he was as good as any NASCAR driver, but there are no police on the Talladega speedway.  My ‘wise counsel’ for the reckless pickup truck driver is to slow down (and to watch out for cops).  Be safe and leave the rest of us turtles alone.  And here’s my ‘wise counsel’ for you today, think of what your reckless decisions may do to other innocent people today.  Hey, no one lives in a vacuum.  Your decisions - good or bad - will affect many other people.
